Hampton's Mayor Molly Ward and Newport News' Mayor McKinley Price opened their joint Book Club reading "Lama, Lama, Red Pajama" to pre-K students at the Watkins Early Childhood Education Center in Newport News on October 6th.  This inaugural event was staged to coincide with the Pearson Foundation's Jumpstart 2011 Read For The Record campaign, a world wide effort to set a new record for the largest shared reading experience of the same book on the same day.  Local volunteers in Hampton, Newport News and Poquoson read to over 7,000 students in almost 350 classrooms in our community.
